About NetCut

NetCut 3.0.276 is a free network management tool for Windows from arcai.com. You download NetCut to see which phones, laptops and other gadgets are connected to your Wi-Fi or local network, and to disconnect the ones that should not be there.

What NetCut does

Home routers often hide the list of connected clients deep in their settings, and many people never look at it. NetCut scans the local network and shows each device with its IP address, MAC address and, where possible, its name or manufacturer. With one click you can cut a device off from the internet or restore its connection, and you can switch on a lock mode that keeps new unknown devices off the network. The same developer offers protection features against the very technique NetCut relies on: it works by manipulating ARP, the protocol that maps IP addresses to devices on a LAN, so the tool can also guard your own PC from being cut off by someone else running a similar program. On the arcai.com downloads page, NetCut is listed together with Arcai Router, a hotspot program for Windows 10/11.

Who it is for

  • Home network owners who suspect a neighbour is using their Wi-Fi.
  • Parents who want to pause internet access for a child's device at bedtime on their own network.
  • Small office administrators who need a quick view of connected devices without a full monitoring suite.
  • Users on shared networks who want to protect their PC from ARP attacks.

Who should not use it

NetCut is only for networks that you own or are allowed to administer. Cutting off other people on a café, dormitory, school or workplace network interferes with their connection and may break house rules or the law. Network administrators can also detect ARP manipulation, so misuse is easy to trace.

System requirements

  • Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11.
  • A macOS version exists for macOS 10.15 and 11.0.1.
  • A wired or wireless adapter connected to the network you manage.

How to install

  1. Open the official NetCut page on arcai.com.
  2. Download the Windows installer and run it; it also installs a packet capture driver.
  3. Launch NetCut with administrator rights and wait for the device scan.
  4. Rename known devices so you recognise them next time.

The installer is about 5.50 MB according to catalogue data.

Safety and price

NetCut is free. Some antivirus programs flag network tools like this one because of what they can do, so download only from arcai.com. A stronger long-term fix for an open network is to change the Wi-Fi password and use WPA2 or WPA3 in the router.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: shows all devices on the network quickly.
  • Pro: simple one-click blocking for the owner.
  • Pro: includes protection against ARP attacks.
  • Con: easy to misuse on networks you do not own.
  • Con: may be flagged by antivirus software.
  • Con: blocking via ARP is not a replacement for router security.

Alternatives

For deeper network analysis there is Wireshark on our site, WinMTR for tracing connection problems and NetSpeedMonitor for watching traffic. Technitium MAC Address Changer helps when you need to manage adapter addresses.
